New Year Detox

New Year Detoxification Of The Mind And Body.

Pablo M Imani

Detox is a word bounded about nowadays especially this time of year but the questions is what is detox and how far should we go and what are the simple things we can do in order to detoxify ourselves after an indulgent decadent season or year? “Detox short for detoxify or detoxification is a process of removing poisons.” So let’s keep it real.

Detoxification of the body is a gradual process and after a Christmas or a year or more of self-abuse; expect to detoxify over a period of two weeks to a month. So here are 9 Steps to detoxify the mind and body, see yourself doing this over a period of two weeks if longer, great.

Detoxification of the Mind and body.

1. Food: Plenty of raw fruit, vegetables, (the vegetables can be taken in the form of a salad) and fresh fruit juices. If you must eat meat then bake or broil without using oil. See the difference over a few days, but don’t stop, continue and find that you have deepened your sense of taste and increased your energy, note chew your food well and enjoy.

2. Drink: Water and herbal teas. Water the best drink of any day providing adequate ph balance for the blood and alkalising your body. You could start your day with hot water and lemon to assist in the detox process and if your liver needs some TLC then add half a spoon of cayenne pepper to the elixir to insure that your blood flow is in working order.

3. Fasting: I know it may be hardcore for some but fasting over a period of a day to 3 days, during your detoxification period while only drinking water will flush out great amounts of toxins from the body. You can water fast or fruit fast however it has to be one fruit. Orange or grapes are ideal detoxifiers, this process will not only lighten the body and give the stomach a much needed rest, it will energise you and assist in sharpening your thoughts.

4. Exercise: Drive the car less, walk more and find the nearest park and go for brisk early morning walks. Get on the push bike or join a yoga class. Exercise raises the endorphin levels in the body giving you that good all round feeling

5. Per Seshat: If clearing out the old unused or abused is on your mind as we have slip in to a New Year, take a look around your home. If it needs dusting off it probably is not much use to you. The saying that a room reflects your state of mind rings true for many so begin to Per Seshat your space, if you are in need of this then treat your self to a book on the subject. You’ll begin to see your space has sacred and reflective of your internal being.

6. Clothing: During the winter months we tend to wear drab, heavy and dark clothing. In the UK we wear a lot of Black unaware that Black is a powerful mood that soaks in all energy around you. So during this period where you are clearing away and off loading wear light or rich coloured clothing which will give you a feeling of spring.

7. Mind Control: During this period steer clear of negative influences and activities. I am sure with a bit of thought you can identify these in your present life. When one de-fragments their computer you just have to leave the computer alone, some times over night. Well similarly at this time put certain activities on hold that are draining off your energy; you are now in a process of de-cluttering.

8. Mind Control: This was suggested to me and I found this a fantastic focus model. Write down 9 achievable goals that you wish to complete by the end of the year. Put them in a order of priorities and make them SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-lined)

9. Mind Control: Meditation. Be still has much as you can and take time each day as my bredren says do “A Medi” and be grounded. Grounding is being present in the here and now connected to earth and all things. Sitting in easy pose or Nefertem posture is grounding and meditation is the ultimate grounding tool. Try 10 min of silence and stillness a day and build up to 1hour. You will find yourself release tensions physical and mental and further equipped to take on the challenges your soul requires.

One more note; remember it’s a process be nurturing to yourself and take good care.

Have a blessed New Year, Peace and Light.
